VULTURES
Vultures are associated the world over with carrion, death, and uncleanness, for the simple reason of their being scavengers. (1) Indeed, nothing lures a vulture (also sometimes called "buzzards") quite so well as a bit of rotting rat meat, a favorite food. (2)
Though loath to hunt their own meat, by no means are vultures craven or weak; their beaks and talons are sharp and cruel, suited to hunting--and to defending their dinners from other perceived takers. (1)

ARBOR BUZZARD
Arbor buzzards can be found in many regions around Eorzea, all of them rather farflung from each other. Hostile to all who approach, they are often known to be deadly predators; indeed, their population is often cut well back in such places as the Matron's Lethe in the Central Shroud, as they will attack and interfere with travelers. (3)
All young Disciples of War who train in Gridania are called upon to help with this culling, as are arcanists and pugilists. (4)
Curiously, some bandits have been known to request buzzard thighs for supper. (5)

BRONZE BUZZARD
Bronze buzzards roost exclusively in the Wanderer's Palace. They do not seem terribly hostile to the resident tonberries, but certainly do not extend this forbearance to other Spoken visitors.

vuokho
The Nym Massacre left a number of naturalists dead, when they tried to explore and catalogue the wonders of the Floating City in Outer La Noscea. But to the surprise of all, including their Maelstrom escort, the Massacre was perpetrated by but one fowl: Vuokho. Those whom it did not consume there on the spot, it carried away to its nest for later enjoyment. For this reason, a price is on its reeking head. (8)
