crawlers

Crawlers are counted vilekin, but unlike the rest, they do not undergo metamorphosis, instead remaining larvae throughout their entire lives. Less able therefore to defend themselves, they are equipped with a number of defenses to deter or defeat any predators who might mistake them for a quick snack. Sharp horns sprouting from their bodies, thick hides, spittle that resolves into silken webs, and even envenomed flesh make any hungry foe think twice about taking a bite. (1)

AROMA CRAWLER

This species of crawler, almost indistinguishable from the crawlers farther to the west of their habitat. However, perhaps their name is given because they appear to enjoy living cheek-by-jowl with the morbols certain Ishgardian knights wish to harness for mounts. Indeed, they are quite scarce unless those morbols are close at hand... (2)

Habitat: The Makers' Quarter, Dravanian Hinterlands (levequests only)

Combat rating: 58

highland eruca

Highland erucas do not adorn themselves with the warning colors of poisonous flesh like their fellow crawlers--possibly because they have determined to be less prey and more predator themselves. And given their unusual size, they seek out much larger prey than mere rabbits and other vilekin; they would sooner feast upon Qiqirn, Ananta, and Ala Mhigans. (3)

Clan Centurio frequently posts bounties on erucas; but do not cull them too closely, as they also make the fibrous cocoons from which Twinsilk is spun. (4)(5)

Habitat: The Peaks, Mount Yorn

Combat rating: 68

Special notes: The highland eruca has foregone the bright coloration of its cousins in favor of a much more direct method of deterring predators: fiery breath. The eruca can and will spew a sweep of flames from its mouth every so often.
